PRESERVATION OF ANCIENT RELICS

Situated by the River Valave Ganga valley, the history of Embilipitiya dates back to the Anuradhapura period of 3rd century BC. This is supported by archaeological finds in the area. However, much of these ancient ruins have been destroyed due to vandalism and the development of irrigation projects in the area. Fortunately, some of these priceless artifacts were collected carefully and stored in the Bodhiraja Training Center. Among them are remains of inscriptions and Buddha statues which are now on display at the center. These serve to give a sense of historical importance and pride to the children and villagers and prevent further vandalism.
